Nature's Sugar

Recently we went for a visit to the farm that makes the Maple Syrup that Arrowhead Meats sells. It was great to get out into the sugar bush once more and watch the sap dripping from the trees into the pails. Then we walked through the area where they boil the sap down into syrup.

I learned some interesting things. It takes around 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup. The amount of sugar in the sap changes from tree to tree and they also said that the sugar content can change from one side of the tree to the other.

Here is a rough video showing our trip around the sugar bush.
